Does the presence of Syrian Refugees in Jordan affect local employment opportunities

Since the onset of the Syrian Refugee Crisis, a number of reports and experts have criticised the impact of the Syrian refugees on the Jordanian labour market, highlighting their concerns about its effect on job opportunities, wages, and working conditions, for Jordanians and immigrant workers alike. On the other side, others have said that the inclusion of Syrians have been limited to handicraft sectors only, which has no impact on local job opportunities.

These two opinions will be discussed in a debate organised by Tamkeen Fields for Aid entitled:

“Does the presence of Syrian Refugees in Jordan affect local employment opportunities?”

The debate will be held on Saturday, July 14th 2018 from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm at Geneva Hotel with the participation of a Jordanian worker, a Syrian worker, an Employer and a representative of the Ministry of Labour and will be moderated by journalist: Hebat Al Hayat Obeidat.
